How good are my opponents? Are they good enough to come popping out with a surprise diamond lead? Then I'll settle for 2♣, albeit a little heavy, planning to rebid 3NT over 2♦.
Otherwise, I'll go with 1NT.
What do u bid?

No. These opponents are bad, they always make exactly the lead they hope you make.
Please note: I am interested in boring, bog standard, 2/1.

1NT for me. I can live with 2♣ too, but prefer 1NT.
Kind regards,

1NT for me, although IMO, the hand is almost too good for 1NT
The advantage of 1NT can be that it makes it easier for partner to know what to do, including should P happily have 5 hearts. It just seems to 1NT is the more partner-friendly value bid.

Which is it? 1NT immediate OR 2NT over likely 2D?
I want an Herbert neg 2C to takeout dbl from partner for best answer.
