If you are bored with life on Earth, there's a new option, namely our dear neighbour, Mars. The first ship leaves in September 2022 and arrives in seven months.

Total publicity stunt, no way it is actually happening.

I would do, but only under stringent condition that the connection to BBo would be ensured during the whole trip.

They said there would be a 3-minute delay between any signal from Earth. Still faster than some tables in MBC, mind you. :)

This would be the one way mission to Mars, right?

The one that is designed to pave the way for a full scale migration when the giant space goat comes and eats the earth.

Cool!

A new (last) entry on my bucket list. I can still get through a speedball with only a 3 minute delay.

I understand that a guy can make a few bucks digging their canals, but the working conditions are harsh and the Marpublican Party is requiring the canal owners to check the papers of anyone they hire.

I'm still curious, I saw they had small living blocks where you are suposed to live, I always though it took a lot more space for a human to live in an outside planet, you have to grow food and maybe oxygen too, get a lot of solar energy and also there has to be some recycling, how do they plan to conserve water for a lifetime? and clean everything up?

I Really don't think it is doable without a water source, perhaps the water source is other ships arriving?

Living in mars gotta be fun at he start, you would feel like a super hero with the low gravity at the start.

few years ago I would had signed up to go as quick as possible, but now I am married with a child coming....

Not sure what you mean by 'trip' the way I understood it, there is no coming back trip, you sing up to move there for the rest of your life.

BBO would not be plyable from that far distance, but if I ever finnish my webpage, bridge could be played there with any kind of delay :)

Now I think of it, depending on rotations the distance between earth and mars could change from aproximatelly 0.4 UA to 2.4 UA wich makes it impossible to talk about a default delay.

On the worst case they would be hidden because the sun would be in the middle of the 2 planets, and signals should reflec or be reproduced at some satellite.

No but you do have an excuse for being off-planet.
